Tried to re-install directx many times, re-installed video card drivers many times. So yes, AS I HAVE YET TO BE ABLE TO FIX THE TEXTURE ACCELERATION.I cannot get my directx to enable directdraw and direct3d. If you can help me out, I might just possibly give you a hug :) So yes, AS I HAVE YET TO BE ABLE TO FIX THE TEXTURE ACCELERATION. If i can get this freaking thing to work. However, I'm loaning it to a friend and he's putting it to better use than he would an AIW or I would a 9600 Pro.

I have a feeling if I through my Radeon 9600 Pro in there, I wouldn't have a single issue. I've yet to have a BSOD and when i went through all the settings (this is myf irst time using 2k3 as I didn't think it had this much benefit over XP) to tweak/optimize/kill things, I realized I didn't even have to. With 2k3, aside from my problem with Texture Acceleration, I've had no issues. but that was a hell of a lot of time i'd rather not have wasted as well.
#Enable directdraw install
I did make it a lot easier by just making a little install that did most of it for me. It's a freaking pain in the arse to go through all the services, registry hacks, try tricks to stop the freaking blue screens, etc

I spend a good 2-3 HOURS trimming the fat off of Windows XP install. Post to forums when things inevitably don't work right, and hope someone can answer your question in a manner other than "don't use 2k3" Oh and you forgot a step in the win2003->gaming platform Messenger/theme service, again, 2 secondsĭisable "ultra-gay" new start click, properties, classic, ok.Īnd so forth.besides, on 2k3 you still have to go into services.msc to enable sound, you also have to disable the internet explorer lockdown, etc. MSN Messenger: either run the uninstall cmd line (google it.2 seconds) or just disable it in 10 seconds with GP edit Whoo, that's toughĭisable welcome screen: control panel, users, change the way users log on/off.besides on Server you have to hunt down "display shutdown event tracker" Welcome Screen: next, don't register, next. install half a dozen other utilities and tweak awayĮxcept that most of those in the XP list take all of 5 seconds. tweak registry to nuke MSN messenger from auto-launchingġ0. install Win2003 optimizer utility and tweak a few settingsĥ. Ok, since i'm a 'RETARD' by your definition, let me spell it out for you in a RETARDED way:Ĥ. ** SIGH **? another thread ruined by the 'Darkman'?:rolleyes:s: not sure about the server power now matter how i implement it :) So all in all, it'll have to handle between 5 and 80 clients at any given time. workstation and a few other servers) to 100Mbit lan to DualOC3 WAN). On top of that, I'm going to be runnig a webserver and 2 game servers (2x1Gb to switch (connected to my equipment. I'm going to utilize some RAID once i add a couple more harddrives (which i have laying around and i'm too lazy to install and set up) which will function as a fileserver.

It had nothign to do with performance but just a little pet peave that I could never change the settings even if i wanted to.Īlso, I often will have 10+ clients.

It had some issues but I found those to be issues with the board itself and not a mobo/vidcard issue (same issue with my old GF3 TI500 when i used this board as my primary box). not to mention just playing around with.ĭARKMAN, to answer your question, yes the ATI worked fine with the board under XP. It's just an option for if we need an extra gaming machien as well as an extra machine for graphics and movies and the like.

My gaming system runs a 9800PRO, so it's not like i'm gonna be moving over to an 8500 for performance.
